About Our Auction

The Youth Mural Project and Silent Auction are to encourage creative expression and personal growth by promoting the skills of young artists and providing an enriching visual experience for residents and visitors alike. We hope businesses feel empowered to bid on and display these 4×6 pieces of art.

The silent auction will begin on June 1st and will run till the 7th.  You will get the chance to check out the submissions ahead of time starting on May 20th on our website (oliverrecreation.ca/youth-mural-project/).  Visit https://www.32auctions.com/youth-mural-project to make your bid.

“ I believe this mural project is a great opportunity to express myself and experience new techniques. As an “artsy” person, I feel this offers a chance to create something with my own imagination and show off my skills.” – Kira Usher

“I love that students have the opportunity to create murals that will be seen around the happy-to-partner project is giving them the opportunity to give back to their community by helping raise money for programs that will benefit them and other youth in Oliver. I’m always happy to partner up with Parks and Rec and really appreciate every opportunity to get students artwork out into the community!” – Lindsey Kingsfield – Art Teacher SOSS

50% of the proceeds will go to the artist and the other half will go back into providing low-cost to free events for all youth.

We would like to thank The Men’s Shed (Desert Sun Counselling), The Oliver Arts Council, Ace Hardware and the South Okanagan Secondary School for their sponsorship to make this event happen.  We could not succeed without their valued support.

About Oliver Parks and Recreation Society

The Oliver Parks and Recreation Society believes that recreation encompasses a broad spectrum of activities vital to the development of our community’s character, spirit and culture.

Development of a sense of Community & Development of the Individual. For the same reasons that public education is seen as a service essential to the social framework of society, so should the development of the individual be supported as a socially worthwhile goal. Because the individual’s identification with his/her community environment is important, efforts to foster the growth of community character, spirit and culture should also be supported. Both goals exhibit benefit to all citizens of Oliver.

As part of our Strategic Plan for OPRS, we strive to provide recreational opportunities and experiences that are respectful and appropriate for people of all ages and backgrounds. We also want to ensure the provision of supportive physical and social environments that encourage participation in recreation and build a strong, caring community.

The results will be posted here, as well as on our social media pages on June 12th
